Gahh! The Darkest Temptation was such a beautiful read. Danielle Lori has done a fantastic job. From the beginning to the end, every single bit was just amazing.
Mila Mikhailov is the princess locked in the tower. Except this tower is a sprawling mansion. Mila has done everything her father has ever asked her to, never once has she stepped out of line. However, she yearns to break free and explore the world. Especially, her hometown of Russia. So, she boards a flight to Moscow and leaves behind her tower.
Ronan Markov is man with a past as dark as the night. He is the boss of the Russian mafia and runs it with extreme ruthlessness. He is man who can get whatever he wants and what he wants this time is Mila.
After flying to Russia, Mila meets Ronan in a chance encounter (is it really though?). She is instantly intrigued by the sharp, tattooed, handsome stranger. Having no place to stay, she agrees to stay with him after he saves her from an attack. The next few days are magic as she explores Moscow with Ronan. Until the veil falls and the truth behind Ronan is revealed. No more his companion, Mila becomes his captive. But she’s no longer going to be the naïve girl she was now, now she’ll use every weapon she has to get out. However, as more time passes Mila realises that the secrets she craves are darker and uglier than she ever thought they could be. The more she finds out, the more it makes her wonder whether she’s chosen the right side in this war.
The chemistry between Mila and Ronan was magic. Mila’s cheerful, sunshine personality and Ronan’s gruff, dark personality contrasted and complemented each other perfectly. Front the minute they met, energy between them was sizzling. No matter how much they claimed to hate each other, their bodies said other wise. Their banter was super funny. Each and every intimate scene basically set you on fire.
I loved Mila’s strength and how she refused to give up. She fought and loved with everything in her. She evolved from this childish girl to this woman who was powerful and knew her worth.
Ronan took time to accept his feelings for Mila. They confused him and thus enraged him. Ronan truthfully, has never experienced anything good in life. All he’s ever known is blood and violence and pain, so to realise that maybe he could have something good in life was difficult. But seeing him come to that realisation was beautiful.
What made this book even better was the fact that we got to meet Christian and Gianna once again. Along with a little surprise of theirs. The housekeeping made a great character and Mila’s interactions with her were hilarious.
Overall, this book is amazing in every way. I would totally recommend it.
